The image above is taken from Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report. It reveals an astonishing $560 million of taxpayer money was funneled into the abortion giant in just one fiscal year (2014–15). That’s a whopping 43% of Planned Parenthood’s $1.3 billion annual revenue.
Even more sobering, the report reveals that same year Planned Parenthood ended the lives of 323,999 babies once growing in their mother’s wombs.
What About Oregon?
With new pro-life laws being introduced at the federal level, including the potential to defund Planned Parenthood, people are asking if these laws would impact how abortions are funded here in Oregon. If Planned Parenthood is defunded, will we still be paying for abortions with our tax dollars? The answer, unfortunately, is yes.
This is because Oregon lawmakers are using our state — not federal — tax dollars to pay for abortions through the Oregon Health Plan. And because abortions are being funded with our state tax dollars we need a state law to block that stream of funding.
This is why Oregon Life United is sponsoring the Stop Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. It’s a brand new state ballot initiative aimed at giving you freedom from being forced to contribute to thousands of elective abortions per year.
The statewide petition drive will begin on Tax Day — Tuesday, April 18. You are invited to learn more and get involved at our petition drive website: www.StopTheFunding.org.
